To analyze shape, deformation and stress of objects, interference methods and grid projection methods are used. The positions of the fringe lines or grid lines provide the information of the shape etc. To determine the positions of fringes or grids accurately, we previously developed some methods, that is, the Fourier transform moire method and grid method, the wavelet transform method, and the phase shifting method using Fourier transform. In this study, we developed a new method, i.e. a phase-shifting scanning moire method. After checking the principle of this method by a program and a simulation, we designed and produced a hardware system for the method by using an LCD projector. It is possible to display contour lines and equal-displacement lines in real-time. We also developed the acoustoelastic velocity-ratio method and the spectroscopy method to measure inside stresses and cracks.
